MeadWestvaco Corp. announced the startup of its expanded production capacity for the popular Melodie® fragrance pump in the company's Barcelona, Spain facility. Along with this increased capacity, the company is pleased to confirm that the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China has approved the company's patent application for a fragrance dispensing system using fluoropolymer dip tubes.

SFDA issues the test methods which specifies the methods for testing hydrocortisone, salicylic acid, thioglycolic acid, phthalic acid esters and other prohibited or restricted substances in cosmetics adopted by the Cosmetic Standards Expert Committee of the State Food and Drug Administration.

Toyo Engineering Corporation (TOYO) has been awarded a contract for a caprolactam plant for DSM Nanjing Chemical Company, Ltd. (DNCC), which is a joint venture company between Royal DSM N.V. and SINOPEC Group Company. The project aims to newly install 200,000 t/y caprolactam plant in Nanjing, China in addition to existing 200,000 t/y caprolactam.

In order to standardize the technical requirement of cosmetic ingredients and further improving the safety of cosmetic products, China State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) has recently approved and released the guidance on safe use conditions and testing methods of three cosmetic ingredients.
