Emulsion Stability in Practice

This e-Training Course will help experienced formulators strengthen their ability to develop faster stable emulsions.

In the light of every day practice, the following will be discussed:
  • Emulsion science in very accessible terms
  • Major instability factors
  • Impact of ingredients on overall stability
  • 5 reasons to attend this online course:
Reason 1 Accelerate problem solving by better understanding emulsion science

Reason 2 Detect early the main instability (flocculation, Ostwald ripening...) in your own system

Reason 3 Shorten time to market by developing more robust formulations from start

Reason 4 Get your autonomy back – do not rely on starting formulations only!

Reason 5 Get to the next level faster by benefiting from Isabelle Afriat's know-how and advices

    COURSE TYPE: Advanced Formulation
Ideally suited for experienced formulators with a need to gain control over emulsion stability for faster troubleshooting and product development.

Prerequisite: A working knowledge of cosmetic formulation is recommended to fully benefit from this course.

WHAT YOU WILL TAKE AWAY FROM THIS COURSE:
Emulsion stability depends on multiple factors therefore there is not one single strategy to generally improve emulsion stability. It is therefore critical to identify the major cause of instability for the particluar emulsion of interest.

Attendees will come away with a practical understanding of emulsion stability and a better ability to identify the causes of instability. It will result in the implementation of more effective prevention measures, starting from ingredient selection to processing for faster development of stable cosmetic products.

Early Registrants: Submit your specific needs when registering and let Isabelle Afriat help you find appropriate solutions.

The following sections will be covered during this session:

    1. Main factors ruling emulsion technology
       •  Bancroft rule
       • Interaction energies forces between droplets
       • HLB

    2. Major instability mechanism and prevention measures
       • Gravitational instability
       • Flocculation
       • Ostwald ripening
       • Coalescence

    3. Particular cases of silicone emulsions and double emulsions

    4. Role of polymeric surfactants in emulsion stabilization - examples

At the end of the training there will be a Q&A Session where you can pose questions to Isabelle Afriat. A transcript of all the questions and answers will be made available after the event.
